Joplin Strong, Fifteen Years Later

Friday marked 15 years since the devastating tornado that struck Joplin and changed our community forever. We remember the 161 lives lost and continue to pray for the families and survivors who still carry that pain today. In the aftermath of unimaginable destruction, southwest Missouri showed the country what resilience, faith, and love of neighbor truly look like. Fifteen years later, Joplin remains a powerful example of a community that refused to give up and rebuilt stronger than before.

Memorial Day: Honoring America’s Fallen Heroes

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave Americans who gave their lives defending our nation and the freedoms we enjoy today. Across generations, Americans answered the call to serve knowing the cost could be everything, and many never made it home. Here in southwest Missouri, we understand the meaning of sacrifice, service, and patriotism. As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, let us remember the fallen, pray for our Gold Star families, and remain grateful for the Americans who preserved the greatest nation on earth.

Honoring 100 Years of Route 66 in the BUILD America 250 Act

Springfield is widely recognized as the birthplace of Route 66, where the iconic highway first received its name in 1926. During the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s markup of the BUILD America 250 Act, I was proud to sponsor an amendment recognizing the 100th anniversary of the “Mother Road.” For generations, Route 66 has represented freedom, hard work, and the independent spirit that helped build communities across America. As we celebrate this historic milestone, southwest Missouri can take pride in the lasting legacy Route 66 continues to carry across the country.

Fresh Freedom Episode 70: 60 Years of CIA Deception with Jeff Morley

President Donald Trump’s release of thousands of previously classified John F. Kennedy assassination records is renewing questions about what the intelligence community knew before President Kennedy was killed. On Episode 70 of Fresh Freedom, investigative journalist and leading JFK researcher Jeff Morley joined us to discuss the biggest revelations from the newly released files, including the Central Intelligence Agency’s surveillance of Lee Harvey Oswald and the lingering mystery surrounding Mexico City. We also discussed how the documents challenge decades of official narratives and why government transparency still matters more than 60 years later. The American people deserve answers, not endless secrecy surrounding one of the most consequential events in our nation’s history.

Oversight Committee Targets Wasteful Washington Spending

On Wednesday, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform advanced legislation focused on reining in wasteful Washington spending and strengthening oversight of taxpayer dollars. With the national debt continuing to spiral, ensuring federal agencies are accountable and preventing duplicative government programs remains a top priority in Congress. These reforms are designed to improve transparency, increase efficiency, and better defend hardworking taxpayers from government waste.

Seeking Transparency on a 1952 UAP Recording

As part of the ongoing push for UAP transparency under President Trump’s disclosure efforts, I sent a letter to MIT Lincoln Laboratory demanding answers about a reported 1952 “flying saucer” recording tied to the federal government’s early UAP investigations. The letter calls for the tape and any related records to be preserved and transferred to the National Archives as part of the federal UAP disclosure process. MIT now has 30 days to explain whether the recording exists and whether it can be released to the public.
