This week, I announced that I will be introducing a bill in the 119th Congress to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
My first month in office, I filed legislation to repeal the National Firearms Act (NFA) and co-sponsored my good friend Matt Gaetz’ bill to abolish the ATF.
While I am disappointed that Matt Gaetz will no longer be serving with me in the House, I know his future is bright. I am happy to step up and carry the legacy of this bill on to the new Congress.

On Tuesday, I attended an Oversight Committee hearing to grill Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell on how, under her watch, workers received orders to withhold emergency assistance from hurricane-impacted homes displaying campaign signs for President Trump.

On Wednesday, the Oversight Committee held a meeting to consider and markup several pieces of legislation. Among the bills considered was the Dismantle DEI Act, which I have cosponsored. The bill eliminates racist “diversity, equity, and inclusion” practices and programming within the federal government and restores a fair merit-based system. DEI programs only divide Americans. It’s time to end this wasteful and discriminatory misuse of taxpayer dollars and get back to equality of opportunity as opposed to the unjust equality of outcome.
I voted yes on the bill, which advanced out of the Oversight Committee and will now hopefully head to the House floor to be considered.

This week, the House passed the Committing Leases for Energy Access Now (CLEAN) Act, which requires the Secretary of the Interior to hold lease sales for geothermal energy projects on federal lands every year rather than every two years. Requiring sales at least once a year will further increase domestic power production and help restore U.S. energy independence. Energy independence is essential to our economy and this bill will allow the U.S. to use and benefit from energy sources that we have here in our country without depending on foreign entities. Sadly, a majority of House Democrats voted against this commonsense piece of legislation.

Meeting with Constituents
|
|
This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Katie Manga, CEO of the MO-based nonprofit Gateway to Hope, Katie Rushmann with the National Breast Cancer Coalition, and David Plaster, a constituent from Southwest Missouri. It’s always great to meet with fellow Missourians in our nation’s capital, hear about their concerns, and how I can better serve them in Congress.
