House Letter on Fiscal Demands
|
Last week, I joined 30 of my Republican colleagues in signing a letter led by Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), Vice Chair of the House Budget Committee, urging our leadership to ensure that the upcoming budget reconciliation bill is truly fiscally responsible.
As conservatives, we have a duty to restore fiscal sanity in Washington. The letter emphasizes that any reconciliation legislation must include significant spending reductions and structural reforms to federal programs, particularly Medicaid. We are committed to ensuring that tax relief is paired with meaningful spending cuts.
This effort aligns with our broader goal: to rein in Washington’s out-of-control spending, reduce the national debt, and promote economic growth. I will continue to fight for policies that uphold these principles and serve the best interests of the American people.

Medicaid Must Be Reformed
|
Medicaid is broken—and it’s unethical for Congress to allow the program to fail because of yet another Obamacare domino effect.
What began as a lifeline for the truly vulnerable has been hijacked—turned into a sprawling welfare machine that punishes work and rewards dependency.
Able-bodied, childless adults who should be working are abusing this program—crowding out resources and driving costs through the roof.
States like California are rigging the system through deceptive tax schemes and shell games to inflate their Medicaid rolls to siphon billions from Washington.
No program can survive this level of corruption, fraud, and abuse. We must restore work requirements, end the scams, and return Medicaid to its original purpose: serving the truly needy.

The Signal Sitdown: Abolish the ATF
|
On Tuesday, I joined The Daily Signal to discuss my Abolish the ATF Act. From Waco to Fast and Furious to the recent killing of Brian Malinowski, the ATF has a disturbing record of overreach and abuse—with little accountability.
Congress must restore constitutional boundaries and shut down rogue federal agencies.
With President Trump’s budget proposing deep ATF cuts, now is the time to act.

Fighting to Fully Repeal the Inflation Reduction Act’s Green Energy Scams
|
I joined 37 of my Republican colleagues in urging Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith to stand firm in the fight to fully repeal the Inflation Reduction Act's costly green energy subsidies. These subsidies—totaling up to $1 trillion over the next decade—are driving up energy costs, destabilizing our electric grid, and propping up unreliable power sources like wind and solar while displacing dependable American energy from coal and natural gas.
Republicans ran and won on a promise to dismantle the Green New Deal agenda. Now is the time to deliver. Leaving any part of these subsidies in place risks preserving the entire package and betraying our commitment to restore U.S. energy dominance under President Trump. I’ll continue fighting to end this green welfare scam and put taxpayers, workers, and American energy security first.

DOGE Subcommittee: Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports
|
On Wednesday, the DOGE subcommittee held a hearing titled “Unfair Play: Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.” We heard deeply troubling testimony from female athletes who were forced to compete against biological males—leading to lost scholarships, stolen titles, and even severe injuries.
This is not only unjust—it’s unlawful. Title IX and other federal statutes were designed to protect and promote women’s athletics, not to enable radical ideologies. Sports governing bodies like USA Fencing are ignoring biological realities and federal law, and Congress must act to protect fair and safe competition for women and girls.

Transportation and Infrastructure: Rail and Brownfields Hearings
|
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials held a hearing titled “America Builds: Improving the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Federal Rail Assistance.” We focused on how to cut red tape and ensure federal grant dollars are going to critical infrastructure—not getting stuck in bureaucratic limbo. From streamlining permitting to ensuring freight and passenger rail reliability, this hearing was about making sure Washington helps—not hinders—America’s builders.

- On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment convened for a hearing titled “Cleaning Up the Past, Building the Future: The Brownfields Program.” We examined this federal program's support for cleaning up abandoned, contaminated sites. While this clean-up is important, throwing money at problems isn’t enough. Real results require regulatory relief and efficient program management.

House Approves 'Gulf of America' Renaming Bill
|
- On Thursday, the House passed H.R. 276 to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America," to codify President Trump's executive order. The legislation, introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, mandates federal agencies to update all references to this body of water in official documents and maps within 180 days. The bill now awaits consideration in the Senate.
