Burli Explains: Washington’s Spending Addiction Has Consequences

Washington doesn’t have a revenue problem — it has a spending addiction.

In my latest video, I walk through the facts: federal outlays have exploded, our debt is racing toward 150 percent of GDP, and more than 60% of the budget is now locked into mandatory spending. Worse, programs like Medicaid are being abused, the left’s Green New Deal agenda is wasting hundreds of billions, and welfare programs like SNAP are riddled with fraud.

If we want to extend tax relief for hardworking Americans — like the Trump tax cuts, eliminating tax on tips and overtime — we must get serious about cutting spending.

Burli Explains

Why Trump’s Federal Cuts Are Not Cruel—They’re Critical for America’s Survival

This week, I laid out in The Blaze why President Trump’s efforts to shrink the federal bureaucracy aren’t cruel — they’re absolutely necessary. With nearly $37 trillion in national debt, it’s time we face the truth: the only way to restore solvency and accountability is to downsize.

President Trump is doing what Congress has failed to do for decades — reining in the swamp.

Op-Ed The Blaze

Honoring Our Heroes: Supporting Law Enforcement During National Police Week

In recognition of National Police Week, the House passed important bills to support and protect our law enforcement officers.

H.R. 2240, the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, requires the Department of Justice to collect and report data on violent attacks against law enforcement officers, including government responses and gaps in reporting.

H.R. 2243, The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) allows qualified law enforcement officers who have committed themselves to their communities the opportunity to continue doing so by extending their concealed carry privileges.

H.R. 2255, the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act, allows federal officers in good standing to purchase their retired service weapons at market value.

As your representative, I stand firmly behind these bills and the hardworking officers who serve our communities with courage and dedication.

Fresh Freedom Episode 46: How the Inflation Reduction Act Failed America

Fresh Freedom pulls back the curtain on one of the biggest legislative scams in modern history: the so-called Inflation Reduction Act. Spoiler alert—it didn’t reduce inflation. What it did do was unleash a trillion-dollar wave of radical climate policies that weakened our energy grid, lined the pockets of green lobbyists, and left everyday Americans paying the price.

The radical Left used fear, climate hysteria, and media hype to sell this to the public—but the truth is finally catching up.

We were sent to Washington with a clear mandate: repeal the green energy scams buried in the IRA and put American energy—and American families—first.

Upcoming Oversight Hearing: Exposing the IRA’s Damage to Energy and Medicine

As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs, I’ve joined with Chairman Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) of the Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services to announce a joint hearing titled: “Mandates, Meddling, and Mismanagement: The IRA’s Threat to Energy and Medicine.”

This hearing will examine how the Biden Administration has used the Inflation Reduction Act to raise taxes on businesses, spend billions on radical environmental programs, and jeopardize Medicare coverage for seniors. It has prioritized politically connected green energy firms and activist groups—often with no meaningful oversight—while middle and working-class Americans are left paying the price.

As your representative, I’m committed to exposing wasteful spending, protecting taxpayer dollars, and delivering real accountability.
